AXA Insurance Gulf, one of the largest insurers in the GCC is relocating their regional head office to Bahrain Bay, corroborating Bahrain Bay’s growing reputation as the new hub for financial institutions in Bahrain. With a presence in the GCC for more than 60 years, AXA Insurance Gulf is part of the prestigious AXA Group that has branches across Bahrain, Oman, UAE and Qatar as well as Saudi Arabia where it is known as AXA Cooperative Insurance.

Mr. Vincent Pluchet, AXA CFO elaborated on the choice of Bahrain Bay above several other locations that were researched for this purpose. The process included an extensive search for the most appropriate location to construct our regional head office, followed by a Due Diligence which took into consideration the distinct features of Bahrain Bay such as a visionary masterplan, an infrastructure developed on the equation of sustainability, a strong core of corporate best practices, ethics and technical values, a dedicated team of professionals which include consultants from the best international schools of thoughts, and a friendly, hands on approach of management”.

The AXA project is currently valued at USD30 Mln. With a workforce of over 800 employees, 22 branches region-wide, more than 500,000 customers and gross written premiums for 2013 of over US$ 768 million, AXA is one of the largest international non-life players in the GCC offering a wide range of insurance products and services for corporate and individual customers. Concept planning and design work for AXA’s new HQ building is progressing well, with construction set to begin later in 2015. The site is a high profile, premium location overlooking the sea to the north of Bahrain Bay and bordering the western side of the main Canal, with full access to Bahrain Bay’s canal side facilities and excellent visibility from the North Manama Causeway. The building itself will be 32m high with 7 storeys above ground level with four basement levels for car parking for employees and visitors. The building will feature a large internal atrium and terraces at each end. The preliminary concept design has been prepared for AXA by Spanish Company Design Plus Art (DpA) and the Bahrain office of Italian company Enrico Mari Grego Architects (EMGA) has been appointed as Architect of Record and Design.
