Our Ethics
Everyone involved in the development of Bahrain Bay is very aware of the responsibilities involved in such a complex project. Therefore there is a strict ethical code which is always followed.
This covers four main areas – community, sustainability, energy efficiency and the environment.
At present, the community of Bahrain Bay largely consists of the workforce involved in its construction and their safety and wellbeing is paramount. The development recently celebrated five million accident-free hours – testament to this commitment.
In terms of sustainability, for Bahrain Bay this falls into three key strands -economic, environmental and social. Economically, the development is adhering to the highest levels of corporate responsibility and, when complete, its aim is to be an important economic driver for the whole of Bahrain. Environmentally, it is being constructed with the ambition of balancing the need for energy with the preservation of the region’s precious resources. The overarching vision is also to make as little environmental impact as possible.
In terms of social sustainability, the vision is of a mixed use development offering a community, from the very outset, which offers opportunities for all.
All plans for Bahrain Bay centre on the philosophy of it being a “Smart City". We are conscious of the need to both preserve precious resources and to use carefully sourced materials for the construction. Therefore, all third party developers have to comply with extremely strict criteria.
There is also the realisation that to truly contribute to the economy of Bahrain, the completed development will need to be an inclusive, integrated environment offering opportunities for all.
We regard this as an obligation and a responsibility which is essential if Bahrain Bay is to become a true legacy to the kingdom of Bahrain.
